Church of Santa Ana

The Church of Santa Ana, officially known as “La Real Iglesia de Santa Ana”, was built in the late 13th century in Sevilla, its construction started in 1276 during the reign of King Alfonso X. It is common knowledge that Alonso had a disease that affected his eyes, and as he was miraculous healed with the holy intervention of Saint Anna, grandmother of Jesus Christ, he decided to create this church and honor her.

It is believed that the church was completely ready at the beginning of the 14th century, when the inscription that can be found in it was made, the same inscription that tells the origin of the church. The church is considered a monument since 1931, due to the cultural interest it generates, and it has gone through different restoration processes, the last one took place in 2010.
