The Sevilla’s majestic cathedral (The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See) is the 3rd biggest cathedral in Europe (after the St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican and St. Paul’s Cathedral in London).
The cathedral of Sevilla stands on the original site of an ancient mosque from 12th century of which only the minaret called Giralda has remained. Construction of the cathedral started in 1402 and in 1506 it was finally completed.
You can find there high number of artistic works in its chapels, a large courtyard full of oranges, Roman features, detailed architecture and some important tombs such as the tomb with a sarcophagus of Columbus relics bearded by statues of 4 kings in life’s size (authenticity of the relics is subject to many discredits though, as the famous seafarer is supposed to be buried in Santo Dominco in Dominican Republic as well).
