San Luis, Macarena and Feria

San Luis
San Luis Neighborhood is situated next to the Macarena Arc and the Almohades walls. In the past, the town was considered as the working class district and a large number of citizens´ movements have taken place in the historic Plaza of the Pumarejo. Nowadays this famous square is the main cultural center of the city.

The neighborhood possesses a large number of important churches such as the Church of St. Louis, the church of San Salvador in the plaza del Pan, Santa Marina church, San Marcos church and the San Roman Church. All these churches were declared as a Cultural Heritage in Spain.

Visitors can visit El Centro de Teatro y Danza de Andaluz that was built and established in the heart of Saint Louis French Church. The cultural center provides important events such as Flamenco musicals and art expositions throughout the year. Definitely, the San Luis Neighborhood is the most cultural town in the entire Sevilla.

The Alameda de Hercules is the highlight center for foreign and local people because many touristic restaurants, organic food stores and nightclubs make this neighborhood one of the most crowded places in Sevilla. In addition, many interesting bars such as the Bicycle bar and the Corralon bar receive thousands of tourists every year.


San Luis, Macarena and Feria La Macarena is a traditional neighborhood located north of the city. The town is also considered as an administrative district of Sevilla having a brotherhood. The Macarena Brotherhood was founded in 1595 in the hospital of the convent of San Basilio in order to support sick and poor people.

This district has important landmarks such as the Basilica of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza Macarena and the statue of the virgin de la Macarena. In fact, the statue of the Virgen de la Macarena is quite famous in Sevilla because it was created in the 17th century. Moreover, the neighborhood has important museums with special pieces of the brotherhood.


The Feria is a singular street situated in the heart of the oldest marketplace in Sevilla. It was founded in the 18th century approximately and is quite famous for its particular and picturesque butcher's, greengrocer's and fishmonger's stalls.
