Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art

The Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art was created in February 1990 but was inaugurated on January 1st, 1998, in the former Monastery of Cartuja. The idea was to promote and disseminate the contemporary culture, its history and its creative art. For this reason, it organizes Art exhibitions of great cultural variety, and has created a development activity plan in order to increase the study and the creation of contemporary art.

From a chronological point of view, the museum holds a collection that dates from the mid-fifties of the last century and continues up to today.

The selection of authors who are part of the funds of The Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art are: Gnasi Aballí, Francis Bacon, Txomin Badiola , Manuel Barbadillo, Louise Bourgeois, Jaime Burguillos, Patricio, Cabrera, James Casebere, Patricia Dauder, Daniel Faust, Joan Fontcuberta, Luis Gordillo , Joan Hernández Pijuan, Rogelio López Cuenca, Ramón Masats, Oriol Maspons, Manolo Millares, Xavier Miserachs, Francisco Ontañón, Marta María Pérez, Guillermo Pérez Villalta, Albert Ràfols-Casamada, Xavier Ribas, Pablo Serrano, Soledad Sevilla, José María Sicilia, Juan Suarez, Ricard Terré, Miguel Trillo, Julio Ubiña, Juan Uslé, Bill Viola, Claudio Zulián, Jesún Zurita, Zush-Evru, among others.

The Center of Contemporary Art houses a library that consists of more than 16000 works related to The Contemporary Art. There are catalogs, brochures, publications, posters, videos, and music and photo libraries.

The Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art lends its establishments to other social and public entities so they organize different activities such as temporary exhibitions, collections, musical events, films, workshops among others.
